On June 4th, Tommy Milner, CEO of Cabela’s Inc., presented scholarship checks to the 2014 winners of the Cabela’s Women in Leadership Scholarship. The winners and their parents traveled to Sidney, Nebraska, world headquarters of Cabela’s, where the presentation was part of Cabela’s annual shareholders meeting. Following the presentations, the winners were hosted to a lunch, sponsored by the Cabela’s Women in Leadership Council, where the young women had a chance to meet and talk with women who have risen to leadership positions within the Cabela’s organization.
The Huge Foundation is partnering with Cabela’s to administer the scholarships and to extend to the recipients a wide variety of mentoring and networking opportunities. “What has made this partnership so unique,” said Jack Siemsen, President and CEO of the Harry and Reba Huge Foundation, “is that both of our organizations firmly believe that our scholars not only need the financial support provided by the scholarships but also, and perhaps just as importantly, they need access to the mentoring opportunities, internships, career counseling, and other enrichment experiences that our two organizations can provide. These scholars will be in regular, ongoing contact with both organizations not only through their four years of college but well into their professional lives as well.”
