Madison Miller, Winner of 2012 Huge Scholarship

The Harry and Reba Huge Foundation is pleased to announce that Madison Miller will receive one of two Huge Scholarships to attend Nebraska Wesleyan University beginning in the fall of 2012. Madison was among 99 applicants comprised of the top high school students in Nebraska and surrounding states to compete for this four-year, full-scholarship award valued at more than $30,000 a year.

Madison will graduate from Superior High in June. During her highschool career, Madison assembled a remarkable record of accomplishments spanning all facets of her life. In addition to her stellar work in the classroom, Madison is also an accomplished musician, triathalon competitor, varsity cross country runner, and holds memberships in the art club, the drama club, the varsity drill team, and the varsity speech team. Her community service includes the Make-A-Wish Foundation Fundraiser, Head Start Classroom Volunteer, Nuckolls Country Food Pantry Volunteer, the Caps for War Victims Fundraiser, and Coats for Kids Volunteer, to name just a few. Madison’s parents are Kevin and Juliane Miller of Superior, Nebraska.

“Harry and I are thrilled that Madison will be receiving one of our scholarships,” said Reba Huge. “She is truly an outstanding young woman, and we are convinced that she will go on to become a leader in her chosen profession and her community.”

Rachel Schmitt, Winner of the 2012 Huge Scholarship

Rachel Schmitt joins Madison Miller as a winner of a Huge Scholarship beginning in 2012. Like Madison, Rachel will receive a full, four-year scholarship to Nebraska Wesleyan University. Rachel’s academic achievements included, among other things, being named a National Merit Commended Scholar, placing in the top 3% of her class during all four years at Lincoln Southeast High, being named to the National Honor Society, receiving the AP Scholar Award, and earning a UNL Distinguished Scholar Award her senior year. Rachel has won a number of academic competitions, including regional and state medals at the Science Olympiad and a regional medal at last year’s National History Day competition. She was twice given the Scholar Athlete Award. In addition to playing in the school band, Rachel voluteers through a variety of public service agencies, including the Spcial Olympics, Zoo Crew, and Bright Lights. Rachel’s parents are Julia and Harry Schmitt of Lincoln, Nebraska.

“Reba and I could not be more pleased to name Rachel Schmitt as a 2012 Huge Scholar,” said Harry Huge. “Rachel has set her sights very high indeed, and we are thoroughly convinced that she will enjoy extraordinary success at Nebraska Wesleyan University and beyond.”
