On Friday May 12, 2017 Harry and Reba Huge received Honorary Doctorates of Humane Letters from the College of Charleston, Charleston, SC.
This award recognizes Harry and Reba’s long history of philanthropy in support of scholarships, travel grants, exchange programs, and special educational opportunities at a number of educational institutions across the country and around the world. The Foundation is currently funding a variety of educational programs at the College of Charleston, Nebraska Wesleyan University, the Citadel, and the Foundation’s two partner universities in Estonia,–the University of Tartu and Tallinn University of Technology. The Foundation also supports two other scholarship programs in Nebraska: the Dorothy Vorderstrasse Huge Scholarship and the Cabela’s Women in Leadership Scholarship.
Distinctive for its efforts to encourage collaboration among all of its educational partners, the Foundation is preparing to host its third NGAL © (Network Globally Act Locally) entrepreneurial pitch event, which marks the culmination of student teams from the five universities above traveling to Charleston, SC from Estonia, where they have been working on their business plans. In Charleston they will compete for funding to help them take their startup businesses to the next level.
